Investigating Icecast Downtime

While most things have been running smoothly, one things perplexed me for a while. Even before I used this domain, I used to push out to another semi-privately and this was an issue even back then.
Every once in a while the Icecast streams will break and drop clients. Mildly frustrating.
I did a little investigating of the MPD logs and it seems like setting the shout metadata chokes when this error happens...

Jan 19 09:32 : ffmpeg/mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2: stream 0, timescale not set
Jan 19 09:32 : ffmpeg/aac: Could not update timestamps for skipped samples.

This is happening when it plays some m4a files (in this case Change Your Mind from Hot Fuss by The Killers), and MPD still shows the outputs as Enabled. These are files that I've had for a long time, and these days if I'm going for new music its usually mp3 or flac.
Suppose my best option to deal with this is to replace any albums in m4a with new files and update the dataset on the local server.
Hopefully after doing that, the interruptions will stop. Otherwise I may just have to program my bots to check for downtime and restart the streams manually.
In any case, these interruptions should stop soon.
